In A Lonely Place is a song by New Order. It is only one of two songs that was originally written by Joy Division, the other being Ceremony. In A Lonely Place is B-side to the single Ceremony.
The song features the use of a laser, an electronic instrument that the band did not use, and admittedly were in awe of.
For the rerecording of Ceremony, In A Lonely Place was not rerecorded but instead remixed. It has a slightly different ending and uses more "thunder" noises. The remix is used on Substance.
Johnny Marr has said that In A Lonely Place is one of his favorite songs of all time.
