Sumner? Dickin? Albrecht?
This article's name is a conjecture, it is just speculation. Please move the page if an official name is announced.
"586" has been officially referred to with spacing, dashes, and full numbers written out.

Not to be confused with Video 5 8 6.

586 is the fourth song in Power, Corruption & Lies, by New Order. The name is the sequence of bars in the song Ecstasy. The song starts with a slow teaser, then into a fast-paced rhythm, with Bernard Sumner singing in high voice, before slowing down, and stopping. It is often compared to Blue Monday with both songs using very similar sequence patterns and having the same length.

It is the first song on the B-side of the 12" Elegia bootleg.

At its length of 7:30, 586 was the longest song of any studio album by New Order, before it got surpassed by Nothing But A Fool. Similar to how its sister song, Video 586, is the longest New Order song ever.

Lyrics

I see danger (danger, danger)
On the corner sent by me
Shadows the ways
Straight away you ran from me
I heard you calling
Yes, I heard you calling
I heard you calling
Yes, I heard you calling

I hear silence
I hear silence in my heart
From a distance
Turn your back and run from me
Heard you calling
Yes, I heard you calling
Heard you calling
Yes, I heard you calling

When it happens
You will be no friend of mine
Take the first chance
When I am no longer free
Heard you calling
Yes, I heard you calling
Heard you calling
Yes, I heard you calling

In the future
When you want me in your heart
I won't be there
If you call out in the dark
Heard you calling
Yes, I heard you calling
Heard you calling
Oh yes I heard you, heard you, heard you, heard you calling

Can you hear me deep inside
From these feelings I can't hide
Can you hear me deep inside
From these feelings I can't hide
Oh, can you hear me deep inside
From these feelings I can't hide
Can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me calling you?
